Mitch Doren was kind enough to allow Fil Scale Models to photograph his latest build.  An Italeri 1/35 Elco PT Boat.

Mitch added several components and figures from various sources.  Rather than just a static model. Mitch was able to capture a moment in time.

The scene depicts a moment during the Battle of Leyte Gulf in October 1944 wherein PT-566 is seen rescuing a Japanese sailor whose ship was sunk while anti aircraft gunners search the sky and are in the lookout for enemy planes.

from a US Navy sailor armed with a Thompson sub-machinegun.

Mitch has paid attention to details like stowage and accessories.

Even the torpedo has its fair share of weathering.

The camouflage was hand painted to replicate the same finish that a number of

PT Boats operating in the Southwest Pacific.

Overall and impressive build.  We hope to see more of his works here at Fil Scale Models.
